At 8:20 AM, disaster struck in London for the fifth time in 2017. As reported by the New York Times, an explosion on London’s District Line train caused a massive amount of carnage. 29 people were hospitalized, transit was thrown in disarray, and law enforcement officers had to swiftly step in to avoid further damage. The incident has shaken London once again, and has officially been declared a terrorist attack.
Accounts from people on the train at the time of the explosion are haunting. 42-year-old Natalie Belford gave the following statement regarding the incident:
Others aboard the District Line noted a “wall of fire,” which left many people with burns, bruises, and deep cuts. Additional people were injured in the massive panic and rush to escape the burning train.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan posted the following official statement on Facebook:
The latest instance of terrorism did not only impact London. Earlier this morning, President Trump tweeted out about the attack on the District Line train, stressing the importance of America to implement a stronger, more robust travel ban:
As usual, President Trump is correct. Critics lamented over his language and his reference to the terrorist as a ‘loser,’ but so what?! Of all the things to do be done in life, the individual chose to engage in terrorism. That makes him a loser by default and if people have a problem with that, too bad!
America does need to increase our travel ban. We absolutely cannot allow people into this nation, simply for the sake of political correctness. As noted by The Hill, Mayor Khan urged his people to “remain calm” back in June when terrorists claimed the lives of seven individuals on the London Bridge. Apparently, staying cool and calm did not work so well.
It is critical for America to learn from what is happening in London and other parts of the world so that we are not also victims of future terrorism. As the President articulated this morning, a stronger and more robust travel ban is paramount. It is critical for the U.S. to vet anyone before they set foot in this nation. As a result of the flagrant attacks happening around the world, America’s scrutiny of outsiders must dramatically intensify. Any persons arriving from countries infamous for terrorism and crimes against humanity must be banned.
The aforementioned protocols are not xenophobic, hateful, bigoted, or whatever other buzzwords liberals like to employ when they’re losing an argument and have nothing better to say. America has to shield our people and put our own best interests first. If people have a problem with that, perhaps they should find another country to immigrate to or call home. If we follow suit from other nations who simply allow anyone to waltz right in, we won’t have a country, which isn’t an option.
Despite the carnage happening around the world, there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel. The Supreme Court recently agreed to revoke curtailments on the President’s travel ban until further notice. This is one of the most sound decisions the Court has made in quite some time. Perhaps some people are waking up to the fact that fighting President Trump tooth and nail does absolutely nothing to benefit the people of this great nation.
As America works to halt future acts of terrorism and protect our country from harm, perhaps other nations around the world will follow. How many lives would have been saved had the London Mayor reacted to the last act of terrorism a little more appropriately? There is a fine line between acceptance and suicide. Every civilized nation around the world would do well to tighten up, or in some cases implement, travel bans if they care about the livelihoods of their people and the future of their country. Preventive maintenance is always better than damage control.
