Celebrities are stupid. There I said it. There's something about getting famous, or getting a lot of money, that must do something to their brains.
Maybe once someone becomes decidedly rich- maybe there's a set number- they lose touch with reality and common sense. We can see that in the weird behavior of notable Hollywood cult leaders. Tom Cruise and many, many others devote themselves to a bizarre religion that most people would find shocking and creepy.
Maybe all that money and popularity makes a person think that every thought that enters their tiny brain is right. Maybe after years of making movies or going on talk shows, being applauded by screaming fans, you start to believe your own press.
Maybe it's all the yes men that many celebrities surround themselves with. Honestly, you wouldn't hire someone that disagrees with you right? So it makes sense that if you're rich and powerful enough, you might lose perspective, as was the case with George Lucas- who changed movies with the original Star Wars trilogy- only to later produce some real stinkers.
Perhaps the worst example of celebrity stupidity is in the area of politics. I've written before, quite a bit actually, about how wrong it is for actors, musicians, and other popular figures to tell us what to think or how to vote. You see, when they do it in a movie or book (which is the real reason entertainment exists: indoctrination), we at least have a choice on whether or not to agree. But when they make videos telling us what to do, it becomes a little more hostile.
We had to suffer through every egomaniac in the entertainment world tell us we were stupid, ugly, racist, or sexist if we didn't vote for Hillary Clinton. Never mind our personal beliefs, politics, or reasons for voting. We had to do what Robert Downy Jr. told us to do, because he's Iron Man.
You might stick up for these millionaires, claiming they deserve to voice their opinion, in as much as I am doing right now. But there is a real danger in listening to what a rich celebrity has to say about... just about anything.
If you're an African-American, you might not want to accept the opinion of a white person- especially when it comes to matters of racism in America. Why? Because you might feel that a white person has grown up with a very different experience than you. As a black person, you probably experienced racism first hand. You might feel that a white friend can't understand that, because they never lived through it.
That's very valid, although it doesn't justify radical groups like Black Lives Matter. But the same can be said about rich celebrities.
While some of them came from humble beginnings, few remember that. Once a few million roll into their bank accounts, most rich celebrities like to forget all those hard years trying to earn a living.
And even if they do remember, they don't have the right to tell us what to do or believe, we who don't have millions earning interest in the bank.
You see, when they tell us to vote Democrat, they know they won't suffer from the ill effects of Socialism. They're already rich and will probably continue to be. The rest of us will have a harder time earning when heavy taxes come crashing down on our heads. Recipients of government handouts are hardly living the American dream; they surely will never be able to reach the heights of the Hollywood elite when they can't even afford milk.
But those celebrities don't care. They don't want to create more opportunity for the rest of us. They just enjoy virtue signaling, knowing that no matter what happens, it won't hurt them.
It becomes especially hypocritical when someone really, really rich starts to virtue signal. You'd think someone that's benefited from the free market, who had their life radically improved by the wallets of people around the world, would be somewhat grateful and less likely to crap all over their opinions.
But, as in many cases, you'd be wrong.
J.K. Rowling has been leading a one-woman crusade against conservatives- most notably President Donald Trump- for quite some time. She was, as you can imagine, against Brexit, the initiative to get the United Kingdom out of the EU to avoid the disaster that has hit France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, and parts beyond.
She now can barely help herself but tweet out malicious content against the President of the United States. Now, we can put aside the audacity of a foreigner attacking an American president so vehemently just for the moment. (I mean, I could say to her "Shut the hell up, this is our country." But let's roll with this for a little bit).
Just a cursory glance at her Twitter account will reveal a kind of vitriol towards Trump that you'd expect from the very worst social justice warrior.
But her hypocrisy came into sharp view recently when she criticized Piers Morgan- another Brit- for his stance on the immigration crisis facing the United States.
Rowling, an actual billionaire, has been outspoken for years that the United Kingdom and other Western nations, should be taking in more refugees. I don't know why all of this happens on Twitter, but there you go.
For some reason, rich liberals want their home countries to take in millions of undocumented migrants. They effectively want to rip them out of their native lands and dump them in a radically different society, one that is almost the opposite of the life they know. Sure war is ravaging parts of the Middle East, but is relocating all these people the right thing to do?
Perhaps Rowling thinks Western culture is so superior, she hopes these migrants will adopt it once they get there. It's a kind of reverse imperialism. It's also stupid.
Perhaps she and others like her think it is the compassionate thing to do. No, the compassionate thing to do is not start a war or bomb Syria in the first place. The compassionate thing to do is not to bring millions of people into a nation, endangering the lives of citizens who do not have the capacity to support them.
It's not as if she is going to put her money where her big mouth is, right?
Thousands of refugees could soon arrive on the doorsteps of author J.K. Rowling’s many mansions – if she accepts the offers of several Twitter users looking to cough up the money for plane tickets, that is. (via Milo)
After her vicious tweet to Morgan, other Twitter users reached out, offering to pay for refugees to be flown to Rowling's big ol' house.
Hi @jk_rowling, I will personally buy plane tickets for up to 100 refugees to live in your mansions for a year. How do we make this happen?— Mike Cernovich (@Cernovich) February 12, 2017
Think this is just a troll tactic? Hardly. A Change.org petition was created, encouraging the rich author to take in as many refugees as she can fit in her house.
J.K. Rowling has often announced her solidarity with Middle-Eastern refugees on twitter. She is a well-known advocate of open borders and often stated, that Europe has the duty to give every single one of these refugees from all over the middle east, rarely warzones, asylum and welfare... Since she is a sheltered member of the rich elite, who is very much disconnected from the ugly reality of rape, murder and destruction which many of these refugees bring with them, we think that it is time for her to show some true solidarity. J.K. Rowling has 18 spare bedrooms in her mansions in Britain and could easily give 18 refugees a long-time housing, not to mention the space available on her giant property to erect refugee shelters. (via Change.org)
The petition goes on to discuss the very real challenges harboring millions of refugees in Europe. "The refugee crisis will require 250000 homes to be built every year in... Britain. Helping refugees in Europe will cost 10 times as much as helping them in neighbouring countries would. Donations by the superrich, even in the millions, are a drop in the ocean, as the taxpayer will have to pay billions for the following decades."
Consistently we hear from celebrities who demand that everyday citizens do more than they are willing to do themselves. Why should we care what Rowling or any other super rich celebrity thinks, when we are the ones to suffer from their choices?
Working class people, middle class, low-income earners have very real concerns over hundreds of thousands to millions of new people flooding their nation. It's not a matter of racism, xenophobia, or any other 'ism they throw at us. We have families to think about. We don't have millions in the bank to rest on, with royalties from our books and movies coming in all the time. We don't have gated communities and private security to protect us, when rape gangs spread through our streets.
We have much to be concerned over when the refugee crisis will cost us billions, reduce job opportunities, and pose physical dangers to our people.
Now maybe I'm all wrong. Maybe Rowling isn't a virtue signaling SJW. Maybe she really does care about those refugees from Syria, so much so that she'll let them stay in her mansions forever (because trust me, they ain't leaving on their own).
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if that happens.
Until then, we can enjoy the hate she spreads online.
