If you’re a bleeding-heart liberal, 2017 might have been a terrible year. Perhaps worse than 2016—when your precious Hillary lost her spot in the White House. But 2017 has been a momentous year. President Donald Trump did what few politicians ever do: fulfilled his campaign promises. In a very packed year, many things have happened. Let’s take a look at some of Trump’s biggest accomplishments in 2017.
Before we get into it, let’s address something important. Liberals hate Trump. They freaked out when he was voted into office. Why? Some of them—the ones with brains—simply disagreed with his conservative politics. The others believed lies pushed by the left to smear the new President. How have those lies stacked up in his first year?
Liberals said Trump was a Russian pawn. So… what did Trump do that helped Russia? Have we seen any policies that somehow benefit the foreign power? Trump’s biggest accomplishments were at home and had zero benefits to Russia. In fact, Trump landed deals with many nations. Who wasn’t included? The Russians.
The left accused Trump of being a sexist and racist. They made wild claims that he would march non-white people to jail. Comparisons were made to Hitler and other despots. Yet a year has passed and we are as diverse as we were before.
Liberals, listen up: you’re going to have to accept the fact that Trump is having a positive influence on the country. The lies being fed to you are being debunked day by day. Being unwilling to accept the truth will only harm you. The rest of us? We’ll enjoy winning.
According to some outlets, Trump has achieved a staggering 81 victories this year. We don’t have time to cover all of them. Let’s look at the major wins.
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017
This was something liberals were convinced couldn’t happen. It was the President’s biggest legislative victory. The tax cuts will provide over $5.5 trillion in relief, $3.2 trillion go directly to families. CBS—among other outlets—confirmed the tax cuts would benefit families of all backgrounds. Many will save more than $2,000 a year.
Reducing the Size of Government
One of the stealth goals of tax cuts is to limit spending. That forces the government to reduce its size and overreach. But in addition to that, President Trump issued an executive order that required two old regulations be slashed for every new one. But this move was even more effective. His administration cut 22 regulations for every new one introduced.
Trump has also reduced the size of government agencies. The EPA shed 700 staff this year. As a former EPA contractor, I can tell you that’s a good thing. President Trump has deliberately left job openings unfilled, to save on salaries and reduce staff across the administration.
Judicial Appointments
This just might be Trump’s most important role as President. Even the most ardent Trump supporters have to understand his time in office is limited. Even if re-elected, he will only serve for eight years. But the men and women he appoints as federal judges will serve their entire lives.
Neil Gorsuch was Trump’s first pick for the Supreme Court. The fact that he was confirmed so quickly is a miracle in and of itself. Many people have criticized Republican Congressmen and Senators. Some have accused them of not backing the President’s vision. But when it comes to these judges, it’s full steam ahead.
In his first 200 days, Trump appointed 44 federal judges. That’s more than Obama, Bush, or Clinton. As of December 15, he’s appointed four times as many judges as Obama did during his first term. If you’re a liberal, you should understand the gravity of this situation.
But why is this good for both liberals and conservatives? Judges appointed by Trump are “Constitutionalists.” Generally speaking, they will interpret the Constitution in a more literal way. Liberal judges believe it is a “living document,” that should change with the whims of society. That’s bad for everyone. Today that might mean a win for a liberal cause. Tomorrow? Maybe not. Judges that are strict in their view of the law will ensure all Americans have their rights protected.
National Security
Under President Trump, the DOJ is doing its job again. It’s going after bad guys, not shaking down companies for a slush fund. The Justice Department announced grants of $98 million to fund local police departments. The DOJ worked with Central American governments to beat back MS-13, arresting 4,000 criminals.
In addition to that, Homeland has apprehended almost 800 of those scum bags in the United States. Many of them are illegals and will be removed from the country. Liberals claimed that Trump was going after innocent “undocumented” families. To date, the major arrests of illegals have targeted drug cartels and criminally violent illegals.
Beating Back Terrorism
Major gains have been won against ISIS overseas. As the terrorist network continues to plot against the U.S. and Europe, it’s seeing its territory in the Middle East vanish.
ISIS has lost 98 percent of the territory it once held -- with half of that terror group's so-called "caliphate" having been recaptured since President Trump took office less than a year ago, U.S. military officials said Tuesday. (Fox News)
Much of the success has been attributed to Trump. He reversed Obama’s disastrous rules of engagement. President Trump also laid out a plan that helped pave the way to defeating ISIS in both Iraq and Syria.
There is still more than needs to be done to bring an end to radical, Islamic terror. But the gains we’ve seen this year were unthinkable in the past.
Of course, there is the economy to boast about. The DOW set 70 records this year. Consumer confidence is high. Unemployment is down. The GDP is thriving. Companies throughout the year have announced major plans to build in the United States. This was all predicated on Trump’s influence. His promises to cut costly regulation and lower taxes encouraged businesses to invest in America. Deals struck with overseas nations have brought the economy roaring to life.
There are more wins to address, but that’s good enough for now. When we are being honest about President Trump’s influence, we see the wins. If you cut through the party biases, the Twitter hysteria, and media misinformation, you can only conclude one thing: Trump is good for America.
