Twitter Removes Trump Campaign Video Using ‘Dark Knight’ Song Over Copyright Claim

Twitter removed a campaign video shared by President Donald Trump after Warner Bros. made a copyright claim over its use of the score of “The Dark Knight Rises,” CNN reports.

Trump tweeted a two-minute video using Hans Zimmer’s “Why Do We Fall” from the 2012 film as well as the font used in the title sequence.

"First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you a racist. Donald J. Trump. Your vote. Proved them all wrong. Trump: The Great Victory. 2020," the video said.

"This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner,” the tweet said after the company disabled the video following a claim by Warner Bros.

"The use of Warner Bros.' score from 'The Dark Knight Rises' in the campaign video was unauthorized," a company spokesperson said in a statement.

Trump campaign accuses AT&T of bias:

Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale claimed that the removed video was an example of AT&T’s Democratic bias.

"Sad to see an @ATT owned company pull such a great video made by an everyday American in good fun,” he tweeted, adding that the company was "positioning themselves as a weapon of the left."

The video was not made by the Trump campaign. It appears to have been lifted from a YouTube video posted to Reddit.

Warner Bros. was part of AT&T’s acquisition of WarnerMedia, which the Justice Department failed to block despite Trump’s demands.

Media companies don’t like Trump using their intellectual property:

Trump has used pop culture references in campaign tweets in the past. Last year he posted a photo using HBO’s “Game of Thrones” font to declare “Sanctions Are Coming,” in a play on the show’s common refrain “Winter is Coming.”

"We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes," HBO said in a statement.

The company later tweeted, "How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?"
