Radio host Rush Limbaugh criticized President Donald Trump’s legal team for promising “blockbuster” evidence of their baseless fraud claims but failing to deliver.
Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has pushed a claim in court that there were fraudulent ballots included in the count in heavily Democratic cities and called for all of the mail-in votes to be tossed in Pennsylvania.
Sidney Powell, who Trump announced as his lawyer and appeared alongside Giuliani at a news conference last week, pushed an even stranger and more baseless conspiracy that Communist-linked money from Venezuela, China, and Cuba paid for voting machines that switched votes from Trump to Joe Biden but was “overwhelmed” by the great number of votes Trump has received.
Giuliani later issued a statement on behalf of the team claiming Powell "not a member of the Trump Legal Team" and is not working for Trump "in his personal capacity."
Limbaugh blasts lawyers:
"It's a tough thing to deny that she was ever a part of it because they introduced her as part of it. I mean, she was at that press conference last week," Limbaugh said on Monday. "The problem with that press conference last week, folks, it goes way beyond Sidney Powell."
"You call a gigantic press conference like that, one that lasts an hour, and you announce massive bombshells, then you better have some bombshells," he said. "There better be something at that press conference other than what we got."
"I talked to so many people who were blown away by it, by the very nature of the press conference," he added. "They promised blockbuster stuff, and then nothing happened, and that's just, it's not good."
Limbaugh pushed conspiracy theory:
Limbaugh was one of the biggest cheerleaders of the Trump team’s unfounded claims after the bizarre news conference where hair dye appeared to stream down Giuliani’s face.
“What a story. Sidney Powell just dropped bombs all over the place. For instance, Trump votes were so overwhelming, the number of people who had voted for Trump that the rigged system, this Dominion system with the Smartmatic software melted down,” he said last week.
“Rudy made a strong case that the fraud is big enough to change the result and that the evidence is clear,” he added. “…It’s gonna go to a trial and they’re gonna take their time, they’re gonna do it right because this is about the integrity of the American electoral system. It’s not just per se getting Donald Trump elected. It’s about the Constitution and the integrity of our system.”
