Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that the 2018 Camp Fire in California was caused by a secret space laser, Media Matters reports.
Greene, who has espoused QAnon conspiracy theories and suggested that top Democrats should be executed while pushing conspiracy theories claiming that the Sandy Hook and Parkland school shooting were fake, also discussed the Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California history, on Facebook.
Greene suggested that the Rothschild family, a wealthy Jewish family cited in countless anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, were involved in an effort with energy firm PG&E and Solaren, a company that sought to send solar panels into space, and caused the fire.
“If they are beaming the suns energy back to Earth, I’m sure they wouldn’t ever miss a transmitter receiving station right??!! I mean mistakes are never made when anything new is invented,” she said. “What would that look like anyway? A laser beam or light beam coming down to Earth I guess. Could that cause a fire? Hmmm, I don’t know. I hope not! That wouldn’t look so good for PG&E, Rothschild Inc, Solaren or Jerry Brown who sure does seem fond of PG&E.”
Greene facing expulsion vote:
Greene is also facing an expulsion vote after California Rep. Jimmy Gomez introduced a measure to remove her from Congress.
Gomez introduced the bill in response to posts in which Greene suggested executing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, harassed survivors of the Parkland shooting, claimed the Las Vegas massacre may have been faked, and suggested that the Obama administration worked with MS-13 to kill former Democratic National Committee aide Seth Rich.
“Such advocacy for extremism and sedition not only demands her immediate expulsion from Congress, but it also merits strong and clear condemnation from all of her Republican colleagues, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell,” Gomez said. “Her very presence in office represents a direct threat against the elected officials and staff who serve our government, and it is with their safety in mind, as well as the security of institutions and public servants across our country, that I call on my House colleagues to support my resolution to immediately remove Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from this legislative body.”
Pelosi condemns:
“What I’m concerned about is the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi said on Thursday. “Who was willing to overlook, ignore those statements assigning her to the Education Committee. When she has mocked the killing of little children at Sandy Hook Elementary School, when she has mocked the killing of teenagers in high school, at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, what could they be thinking or thinking too generous a word for what they might be doing? It’s absolutely appalling and I think that the focus has to be on the Republican leadership of this House of Representatives for the disregard they have for the death of those children.”
“Not only are they not interested in gun safety and gun violence prevention by passing legislation for background checks, legislation which is overwhelmingly support in a bipartisan way in the country, but to have someone who would mock, call it a fake, if those fake events onto the … is just beyond, it’s just beyond any understanding of any regard that the House Republicans would have for the House of Representatives, for the Congress of the United States and for the heartbreak of the families in Sandy Hook and at Marjory Stoneman High School, it really, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. It’s really beyond the pale,” she added. “You’re just going to have to ask them why they thought that that raised itself to the level of something appropriate to do in the Congress of the United States.”
