Gays Will Be Prosecuted For Having Sex If This Supreme Court Justice Pick Has His Way

Donald Trump has recently released his list of Supreme Court Justices, and one of them should make the gay community collectively shit their pants. His name is William H. Pryor Jr., and he’s a judge of The US Court of Appeals. Now Billy Pryor isn’t your ordinary conservative-leaning, “family values first” kind of guy – he’s an infamous homophobic Southerner, who has made some shocking statements regarding homosexuals and consensual fornication.

In a 2003 legal brief, he argued to uphold a law that criminalized gay sex, claiming that LGBT sex is unconstitutional. He went on further to compare consensual gay sex to “polygamy, incest, pedophilia, prostitution, and adultery.” The written statements he has made as a public servant are deplorable, especially if you consider the fact that this person is supposed to be responsible for upholding the rights of ALL Americans:

“This Court has never recognized a fundamental right to engage in sexual activity outside of monogamous heterosexual marriage, let alone to engage in homosexual sodomy.”

So according to Billy, gay people simply don’t have the same rights as straight people. Got it.

“Such a right would be antithetical to the ‘traditional relation of the family’ that is as old and as fundamental as our entire civilization.”

He also believes that as a judge, it would be unethical to allow gays to have these rights, as they diverge from the traditional family make up. Apparently, this prick hasn’t read any Greek history. In a shocking turn, he then went on to defend consensual sodomy among straight couples:

“Texas is hardly alone in concluding that homosexual sodomy may have severe physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual consequences, which do not necessarily attend heterosexual sodomy, and from which Texas’s citizens need to be protected.”

For the lesser versed, sodomy is sexual intercourse that involves the ass or mouth. That’s right, William Pryor believes that gay people shouldn’t be legally allowed to have anal sex or give/receive blowjobs, but it’s perfectly fine for straights. Is this guy off of his rockers?

Even as a straight, white, conservative male, I am disgusted at the prospect that such a person could be selected to uphold our Constitution. I still believe that Hillary Clinton should be imprisoned indefinitely for her betrayal of our nation, so that’s saying something. Forget about the LGBTQ community for a second – even if you don’t belong to this group, as a human being, you should be frightened. From his arguments, it doesn’t even seem like he has an understanding of equal and civil rights.

Whether you’re an American or not shouldn’t matter, a decision that would allow Pryor to serve has broad implications. The United States isn’t called the “Free World” without reason: The US has been traditionally looked at as a beacon of freedom, where all people are created equal (in recent history, anyway). To put such a man in the Supreme Court would set precedence on a global scale: You too can be a gay-bashing, homophobic Fascist and serve on the highest court in America!

Assuming that Pryor is selected and replaces the recently deceased Justice Scalia, the gay community could be greatly affected, in a not-so-positive kind of way. The US Supreme Court sees anywhere from 75-85 cases a year and accepts petitions that have a large impact on the nation as a whole. The Supreme Court could take a case from a state court, assuming that an appeal was made claiming that an individual’s rights (according to the Bill of Rights) were denied.

Let’s take this further, and imagine a case where two adult men are arrested for having consensual sex in private. The judgment didn’t go in their favor on a state-level, so they appeal, and the case makes it all the way up to the Supreme Court. With a highly-polarized list of Judges (and the addition of good ol’ William), the decision is nearly split, to the surprise of Americans everywhere. Pryor gives the court just what it needs to win a 5-4 decision, and there you have it: Homosexual intercourse is now a Federal crime.

To add to our potential embarrassment, the kind of company America would keep should gay sex be made illegal is appalling. Homosexuality is banned in several third-world and war-tattered countries, such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, and Liberia. The list goes on and on – 76 nations currently have laws against homosexuality, and I believe that adding the US to that list would be a far cry from what our Founding Fathers originally intended.

The fact that President Trump added Pryor to his list of Supreme Court Justice picks simply baffles me. Trump went on record to support and defend LGBTQ rights, and then adds this guy to his list. What will he do next, support enhanced gun control and the banning of pistols? I’m personally hoping that as a master negotiator and businessman, Trump merely added Pryor to the list to appease fundamentalist Christians and ultra-right-wing conservatives. Please Mr. President, please let this be a bluff. All rational Americans (Independent, Democrat, and Republican alike) are begging you – don’t put this moronic bigot in a position of power.
