Eric Trump said Tuesday that a waitress at the upscale Aviary bar and restaurant in Chicago spit on him.
Trump told Breitbart News that a woman who worked at the bar spit on him late Tuesday evening after local reporters broke the news.
The woman was taken into Secret Service custody.
Chicago Police were also called to the scene.
Breitbart reported that Trump was visited the lounge with a group of people when the young woman walked right up to him and “spit in his face.”
An eyewitness told Breitbart that the woman “murmured inaudibly something that sounded like it was anti-Trump.”
Breitbart reported that Trump decided not to press charges and the woman was ultimately released from police custody.
Eric Trump blames Democrats for waitress’ actions:
“It was purely a disgusting act by somebody who clearly has emotional problems,” Eric Trump told Breitbart, before blaming the entire Democratic Party for the incident.
“For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility,” he said. “When somebody is sick enough to resort to spitting on someone, it just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we’re winning.”
Chicago has a tense relationship with the Trumps:
"The Trump family has long had a strained relationship with Chicago, a heavily Democratic city that the president has repeatedly singled out for its high rate of gun violence and sanctuary policy toward undocumented immigrants," The New York Times reported.
"During the 2016 campaign, the future president canceled a rally in Chicago after violent scuffles broke out in the arena where it was to be held. The city’s former mayor, Rahm Emanuel, often referred to Chicago as a 'Trump-free zone.' And when word spread of an immigration sweep last weekend that would have targeted Chicago and other cities, the new mayor, Lori Lightfoot, told the president to 'back off.'"
