CNN host Chris Cuomo was threatened with a fine after repeatedly refusing to wear a mask at his apartment building, The New York Post reports.
A letter from the building management company where Cuomo has an apartment sent a letter obtained by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson threatening him with a $500 fine for repeatedly violating a building requirement to wear a mask.
“You have been observed entering and exiting the building and riding the elevator without the required face coverings,” the letter said.
“Even though staff members have asked you to comply with this requirement, you have refused to do so. This is a violation of the Executive Order, building policy, and places other residents and our staff at risk. There are no exceptions to this rule, and you are required to comply.”
Cuomo previously tested positive:
Cuomo, the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, tested positive for the coronavirus in March.
Gov. Cuomo issued an executive order requiring all New Yorkers to wear masks inside shortly after.
Last week, Chris Cuomo criticized Trump for ignoring coronavirus guidelines after the president, his wife, and his youngest child tested positive for the coronavirus.
"I can relate to very little when it comes to Trump's motivations. We may have grown up in the same place, but we are very different people. But this I can relate to. I got my wife and son sick just like he did. But with me, it crushed me. It left me ashamed and super sensitive to keeping people safe,” he said.
"Now, with Trump, not only does he not really talk about either of them that much, but he's parading around like Superman and saying he understands COVID better now,” he added. "Well, if he does, why is he only doing things that will make it worse for others? Not only did he fail to keep his own family safe, like I did, but it's what you do after you make that mistake.”
Carlson slams Cuomo hypocrisy:
Carlson ripped Cuomo over the letter on Wednesday.
“The one thing you are likely to know about Chris Cuomo is that Chris Cuomo really believes in masks, really believes with sincere religious intensity. If there was a shrine to the patron saint of paper surgical masks somewhere in the countryside of Portugal, Chris Cuomo would go there each summer. He would crawl on his knees if he had to, such is his devotion,” Carlson said.
“We mock Chris Cuomo, but let's take this to a deeper, more human level. Imagine being him. By day, there he is, giving you more sermons about how you must wear masks. But by night, he's wandering maskless through his own building, endangering his neighbors and ignoring demands that he put on a mask. Chris Cuomo must be deeply upset with Chris Cuomo. Which, of course, we already guessed from his exercise regimen. It's not an exaggeration to say that Chris Cuomo is a man at war with himself. How will this end?”
