Former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign demanded that news outlets stop booking President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, The Daily Beast reports.
The Biden campaign sent a letter to the heads of major news and cable networks as well as top news anchors arguing that Giuliani should not be allowed on air because of his history pushing falsehoods about Biden and his family.
“We are writing today with grave concern that you continue to book Rudy Giuliani on your air to spread false, debunked conspiracy theories on behalf of Donald Trump,” the letter said. “While you often fact check his statements in real time during your discussions, that is no longer enough. By giving him your air time, you are allowing him to introduce increasingly unhinged, unfounded and desperate lies into the national conversation.”
“We write to demand that in service to the facts, you no longer book Rudy Giuliani, a surrogate for Donald Trump who has demonstrated that he will knowingly and willingly lie in order to advance his own narrative,” the letter continued.
“Giuliani is not a public official, and holds no public office that would entitle him to opine on the nation’s airwaves,” it said, adding that if networks book Giuliani they should also provide “an equivalent amount of time” to “a surrogate for the Biden campaign.”
Giuliani accuses Dems of censorship:
Giuliani told The Daily Beast that Biden’s letter “sounds like the usual left wing censorship. Everything I say is supported by such as today, affidavits and statements. They are the ones who have covered up pay for play for at least 5 years.”
But the Biden letter correctly argued that Giuliani has been pushing a lie that has already been repeatedly debunked.
“Your obligation is to provide the American people with an informed, fact-based and responsible coverage and debate of critical issues,” the letter said. “Rudy Giuliani has made very clear that his only obligation is to protect Donald Trump, and that he will willingly lie to do so. While you have been aggressive in pushing back on him in real time, it is well known that the dedicated liar always has the advantage, pushing out outlandish falsehoods and disinformation in the knowledge that it is hard for the corrections to catch up.”
Trump and Rudy’s Biden conspiracy is not true:
Former Ukrainian prosecutor general Yuriy Lutsenko told the BBC that there was no evidence that Biden or his son Hunter (who worked for Ukrainian oil company Burisma) had done anything wrong.
"I don't know any reason to investigate Joe Biden or Hunter Biden according to Ukrainian law," he said.
"It is the jurisdiction of the US," he said, adding that any "possible embezzlement" at Burisma "happened two or three years before Hunter Biden became a member of the board".
Lutsenko said he met with Giuliani, who pressed him to investigate the Bidens.
"I told him the same I told you - it is not my jurisdiction," he said. "It is likely to be the jurisdiction of the US. If you will send me a request, yes, I will give you all official information, but it is not Ukrainian jurisdiction - that was my answer… I can do nothing [on a case] which is not connected with Ukrainian law."
