Bernie Sanders Polling Much Better With Fox News Viewers Than MSNBC; Warren Not So Much

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is polling much better among Fox News viewers than MSNBC viewers after holding a town hall on the conservative pro-Trump channel, according to a new Morning Consult poll.

The poll broke down support for 2020 Democrats based on the media consumption of voters. The poll found that former Vice President Joe Biden leads the pack across the board but the underlying numbers show some of the divides among voters based on the media they consume.

Sanders, who held a much-discussed town hall on Fox News earlier this year, is polling at 22% among potential Democratic voters who say they primarily watch Fox News. On the other hand, he is polling at just 13% among MSNBC viewers and 16% among CNN viewers.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who rejected an invitation from Fox News to hold a similar town hall, is polling at just 5% among Fox News viewers, compared to 10% among MSNBC viewers.

“A Fox News town hall adds money to the hate-for-profit machine. To which I say: hard pass,” she wrote on Twitter. “Fox News is welcome to come to my events just like any other outlet.”

Bernie does better among Wall Street Journal readers:

The poll also showed that Sanders is polling at 19% among Wall Street Journal readers compared to 17% readers of the New York Times and Washington Post.

On the other hand, Warren polls at just 7% among Wall Street Journal readers while polling at 11-12% among NYT and WaPo readers.

Poll shows Twitter is not real life:

The poll also broke down candidate support based on the social media usage of voters, finding that Biden is much more popular in real life than on Twitter.

Biden polls at 32% among Twitter users but the poll found him at 44% among non-Twitter users. Sanders is polling at 20% on Twitter vs. 18% non-Twitter and Warren is at 11% on Twitter compared to 8% IRL. Biden is polling even lower among self-identified very liberal Twitter users, just 22% of whom back his candidacy.

Biden fairs much better on Facebook, where the age demographics tend to skew older. Forty percent of Facebook users back Biden compared to 20% for Bernie and 8% for Warren.

Biden leads Sanders 33-25 among Instagram users and 30-29 among Snapchat users.
