Disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo filed a ethics complaint against state Attorney General Letitia James over the sexual harassment probe that prompted his resignation, The New York Daily News reports.
Cuomo filed a misconduct complaint against James and independent investigators that worked on the probe.
The 48-page complaint accuses James of mishandling the investigation, which found that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women.
“She engaged in a terrible and quite obvious manipulation of facts, evidence and the law, furthered a false narrative about me, and hid evidence that undermined the Report from the media and the public,” Cuomo said in the complaint.
Cuomo compares James to Giuliani:
Cuomo’s complaint rehashes his repeated allegations that James furthered “a false public narrative about (him) in and after the issuance of the misleading and inaccurate Report.”
The complaint goes on to compare James to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was disbarred after pushing false election claims, arguing that they both publicly made “misleading and false statements.”
The facts:
Multiple investigations reached similar conclusions as the state probe.
Several district attorneys reviewed individual sexual harassment allegations and found the allegations to be credible, though they lacked enough evidence to bring criminal charges.
“For months, Andrew Cuomo has been hiding behind his campaign lawyer and falsely crying ‘witch hunt’ despite previously admitting to this misconduct multiple times,” the attorney general’s office said earlier this year. “If he thinks he has a real legal case, he should go ahead and file it. These attacks are disgraceful and yet another desperate charade to mask the truth: Andrew Cuomo is a serial sexual harasser.”
