‘You’re a Damn Liar’: Biden Challenges 83-Year-Old Voter to a Push-Up Contest Over Question

Former Vice President Joe Biden sparred with an elderly voter in Iowa and challenged him to do push-ups at a town hall event on Thursday.

The voter asked Biden about having “sent” his son to work for a Ukrainian energy firm, prompting Biden to declare, “you’re a damn liar.”

The man also said that Biden was “too old” to be president.

“Look, the reason I’m running is because I’ve been around a long time and I know more than most people know and I can get things done. That’s why I’m running. And you want to check my shape, man, let’s do push-ups together here, man, let’s run, let’s do whatever you want to do, let’s take an IQ test,” Biden replied.

Voter accuses Biden of lacking “backbone”:

The 83-year-old voter pressed the 77-year-old former veep on his son’s dealings in Ukraine, pointing to reports he said he saw on MSNBC.

"You don’t hear that on MSNBC," Biden said.

"I didn't say you did anything wrong," the voter said, before adding that “it looks like you don’t have any more backbone than Trump does.”

The voter concluded the exchange when he said he would not vote for Biden.

"I know you're not, man. You think I thought you were voting for me standing there. You're too old to vote for me,” Biden replied.

Biden says he didn’t lose his temper:

"I didn't lose my temper, what I wanted to do was shut this down,” Biden told reporters after the exchange. “You saw the reaction of all the people here, you saw the response.”

Asked how he would respond to the Trump-driven narrative about Ukraine, Biden replied, “I’m going to keep the focus on Trump. This is the game he plays all the time.”

“Every major leader has said Biden did the right thing,” Biden said.
