Muslim Prayers In Schools Has Everyone Losing Their Minds

Although Jumu'ah prayers have been practiced in Peel District School Board schools for roughly two decades without issue, the School Board's recent decision to overturn a policy that mandated Jumu'ah prayers adhere to board-approved sermons has launched the whole question of prayers in school to the forefront of public debate.

There's a mishmash of reasons why, ranging from legitimate concerns about religious double-standards and a desire for schools to be secular spaces, to thinly-veiled bigotry and a heck of a lot of narrow-minded fear-mongering. The controversy is far from over.
