Kanye West reaffirmed his support for President Donald Trump and vowed to perform while wearing on the president’s signature “Make America Great Again” hats.
West, who appeared to distance himself from politics after a falling out with Candace Owens of the pro-Trump Turning Point USA group, reiterated his support for Trump in a New Year’s tweet storm.
“Trump all day,” West wrote, before tweeting three dragon emojis in an apparent reference to his claim that he and Trump both share “dragon energy.”
“Just so in 2019 you know where I stand,” he wrote.
“From now on I’m performing with my mutherfucking hat on,” he wrote in an apparent reference to the “Make America Great Again” hat he has been photographed wearing.
“One of my favorite of many things about what the Trump hat represents to me is that people can’t tell me what to do because I’m black,” he wrote.
“Blacks are 90% Democrats,” he added. “That sounds like control to me,” he wrote with a suspicious face emoji. “They will not program me.”
“2024,” he tweeted, in an apparent reference to his presidential aspirations.
Kanye’s tweet storm came after learning of new child:
The tweet storm came ahead of the news that Kanye and Kim Kardashian are expecting their fourth child. TMZ reported that the couple’s surrogate is pregnant with a boy, who is due in early May.
Fellow rappers condemn Kanye’s MAGA embrace:
Kanye vowed to wear the Trump hat after Pusha T, whose new album was produced by Kanye, told The Daily Show in December that West has stopped wearing the hat.
In another interview, Pusha T described the hat as “this generation’s Ku Klux hood”.
