Why Mitch McConnell Should Resign Immediately

Americans, especially staunch, patriotic conservatives and Republicans are officially fed up with the ineptness and incompetence which has reigned supreme in Congress for far too long. As reported by The Daily Wire, conservatives throughout the FreedomWorks, Tea Party Patriots, and Senate Conservatives Fund are now calling for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (and other top Senate Republicans) to step down from their posts. The long overdue request came in a letter with specific excerpts reading as follows:

“It is painfully clear that you intend to do nothing because, as is most apparent, you had no intention of honoring your solemn commitments to the American people.”

Sadly, McConnell and his team have made this abundantly apparently. They epitomize the stereotypical politician who is all talk and no action. As the letter goes on to state, McConnell’s inability to effectively execute is a serious liability in Congress.

“You and the rest of your leadership team were given the majority because you pledged to stop the steady flow of illegal immigration. You have done nothing. You pledged to reduce the size of this oppressive federal government. You have done nothing. You pledged to reduce, and ultimately eliminate the out-of-control deficit spending that is bankrupting America. You have done nothing. You promised to repeal Obamacare, “root and branch.” You have done nothing.”

“Perhaps the greatest betrayal – and that is what it is – is your failure to repeal Obamacare, the single most devastating piece of legislation against freedom ever crafted. Every single Republican in federal office today is there because of the pledge to end this horror. We are now in October of 2017. The Republicans control the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. The GOP controls it all, thanks to that commitment. President Trump and the House of Representatives have done their part. You sank it all.”

The excerpts above highlight the ultimate downfall of McConnell and his leadership team. Remember, repealing and replacing Obamacare was something conservatives promoted and campaigned on for nearly a decade and yet not a shred of it has been repealed or replaced. Senate Republicans ought to be ashamed of themselves.

A lack of opportunity cannot be cited as the reason for Obamacare’s continuous, parasitic existence. The GOP has had every chance in the world. Countless proposals and reforms have been introduced only for so-called Republicans to reject them because every single they wanted wasn’t in place.

That’s not how progress is made in government, and perhaps McConnell and his team will have to learn this the hard way. Sometimes compromise is needed for the greater good. This means that while everyone may not get what they want, they’re smart enough to understand that a partial repeal is better than no repeal at all. Often, reform is a gradual process. It cannot always happen in one swoop, which is something McConnell and others never quite seem to grasp. It’s time for a leader who does grasp these important concepts.

“Perhaps more could be accomplished if you and the rest of your Gang of 5 leadership team would work harder, and require the rest of the Senate to do the same. The American people work 8-10-12 hours daily. How hard do their elected representatives work? On this, the 282nd day of 2017, you all have barely worked more than 100 days! And many of those “days” count coming in for a vote or two at 5:30 p.m.”

For Congress to be working such lax hours during a time where Americans are suffering from their bad choices is utterly deplorable. No healthcare reform has been passed. The wall along the Southern border is not yet built. Tax reform still hangs in the balance. Republicans have a lot of work to get done. They have a lot of campaign promises to fulfill. Until the Senate has followed through on the vows they made to America, they have absolutely no business working such few hours.

The aforementioned letter should come as no surprise to McConnell or any of his constituents. They had their chance. As a matter of fact, they have had multiple chances and produced nothing but disappointing failure and laziness. At some point, everyone’s chickens come home to roost. McConnell is utterly unfit to serve as Senate Majority Leader. The sooner he steps down, the sooner a path can be cleared for a successful, active leader who will produce the desired results.

America has a lot of work to do. Granted some progress has been made with President Trump in office, but we’re not even close to being finished. Sadly, the failures of the Senate have considerably worsened this nation’s standing. Americans no longer trust or want them in office.  Neither do staunch conservatives who are tired of watching their work be sabotaged due to incompetent so-called leaders. McConnell and his leadership team owe it to America to heed the advice and points in the letter and resign from their posts as soon as possible.
