Those of you familiar with your Old Testament will know the story of King Ahab and his wife Jezebel.
For those of you who haven't cracked open the good book in a while (shame!), I'll give you a quick rundown:
Ahab was one of the kings of Israel. Long gone were the days of David, when the king was a man after God's own heart. Ahab was a coward, a pig, and an all around corrupt guy. His penchant for wickedness led him to marry Jezebel, a foreigner whose father was a priest to the false god Baal.
Jezebel was a witch that murdered hundreds of God's prophets. Except for a man named Elijah. Perhaps you've heard of him.
But why am I talking about Ahab and Jezebel? Jezebel, an ambitions and devious woman, manipulated the weak-willed and corrupt king to run the country herself. She brought Israel into a period of darkness, committed all sorts of atrocious acts, while hiding behind the "proper" king, Ahab the puppet.
Starting to sound familiar?
Many of us wondered, during the late 90's, why a strong-willed woman like Hillary Clinton would stand behind Bill, after the shocking and embarrassing revelation that he had an affair with a White House intern. That scandal brought shame to the entire nation and almost led to Bill's removal from office (keen readers will remember he was impeached for lying under oath, but Congress refused to punish him by kicking him out of the White House).
Any self-respecting woman would dump a man for such an act. Surely something as terrible as a standing president committing adultery would be grounds for a justified divorce. Yet Hillary stayed with the man.
Was it out of love? Commitment? I highly doubt it.
You see, Bill had a history of philandering behavior. For years rumors abounded that he had affairs with woman and sexually harrassed many more. According to some brave women, he even raped them on numerous occasions. Regardless of what you believe, it's clear that Bill Clinton is a sexual deviant, one who has had many encounters with women throughout the decades, even while married to Hillary.
He was--and is--a coward, a pig, and an all around corrupt guy.
But Hillary has alwasy stood beside him. For good reason.
After the Clinton's left the White House in 2000, Hillary immediately started her bid for the presidency. Yep, it started way back then. They carpet-bagged to my home state of New York so that the woman could bamboozle her way into Congress. Then she bided her time.
Had she dumped Bill right after the Lewinsky scandal, it would have complicated things going forward. Perhaps America would not look kindly on a divorced woman as a senator. Perhaps she would look better as a committed wife, who "forgave" her husband's adultery to keep the family together. That would put her in better stead with voters in the coming years.
Simply put: Hillary has always used her relationship with Bill to propel her politically. Much in the same way Jezebel used her relationship with King Ahab to rule Israel.
A weak-willed and wayward man, in a position of influence, being used as a puppet by an evil and ambitious woman. It's not a new story.
That's why we're in the problem we're now in: with a corrupt woman just a few steps away from the White House. A woman who has used her marriage to run this country into the ground. A woman who stays married to an incompetent, unfaithful, sex-addict because he's easy to manipulate.
But the story doesn't end there. It gets even weirder. Enter Huma Abedin.
Since she was a teenager, this young woman was a loyal follower of Hillary. During her time as Secretary of State, Huma Abedin became the right-hand woman of the ambitious Clinton. She was involved in practically every aspect of Hillary's life, helping make decisions on important issues.
Over the years Huma has served in several positions, with increasingly important-sounding titles. She has been Hillary’s “body woman,” her traveling chief of staff, a senior adviser, and a deputy chief of staff when Hillary was secretary of state. Now, based in Brooklyn, she is the vice-chair of Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign. (Vanity Fair via Breitbart)
People have expressed concern that a woman with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood has the ear of a former secretary of state and potential future president. Some have speculated that Huma is sympathetic to radical Islamic terrorism or perhaps supports it.
So the logical question to ask is: why would Hillary Clinton be so close to this woman?
The answer is simple: Anthony Weiner.
Huma Abedin is married to the disgraced former New York Congressman. Weiner was the center of controversy when he was exposed in 2011 as sending sexually explicit photos to several women via text. While this cost him his career as a Congressman, the intrepid man wasn't deterred. He mounted a mayoral campaign in 2013. Yet that was thwarted when he, once again, was caught sending lewd pictures to a 22-year old woman.
Gross behavior, but still nothing out of the ordinary for a miserable married man to do. Until this summer, when he was caught sending racy pictures to another person. This time a 15-year old girl. Oh and the pictures involved his son.
People have speculated that Huma Abedin would be Hillary's successor. That when good ol' Hill finally up and puts out to pasture, Huma would be there to pick up the reigns. Makes sense: she's Hillary's closest advisor, confident, and protégé. Huma comes from a rich, international family. And has strong ties to Islam.
She's the perfect woman to continue Hillary's legacy!
Plus she's married to a sexually deviant man she can manipulate for her own ends.
But why do these strong-willed women seek out weak men? Why not find good men to marry?
Because good men don't want to marry shrews. They have too much self-respect to put up with a heartless woman whose only ambition is to use them for political gains.
A real man won't allow his wife to bully him. But a cheater? An adulterer? A rapist or a sexter? Those are the kind of men ambitious, morally-bankrupt woman can get behind! They don't have enough self-esteem to stand up for themselves. And when they're caught, time and again, breaking their vows, their wives can brow beat them until they get what they want.
After all, a man doesn't have the moral fortitude to stand up to a woman, after being caught cheating on her.
This is a mutual relationship. The "Ahab" can indulge in his sexual exploits, knowing his "Jezebel" will look the other way. All he has to do is maintain his reputation in the public eye. In return the wife can do whatever she wants to acquire power and wealth, with the goal of controlling the country.
This has worked perfectly for the Clinton's. For decades they climbed the political ladder, first in Oklahoma then in D.C., using this arrangement. Bill was the puppet, Hillary pulled the strings.
Clearly the Ahab-Jezebel template hasn't worked out as well for Hillary's protégé. Huma's Ahab was caught far too early in the process, before he could acquire enough power to count. Now that he was caught in actual criminal behavior--sexual activity with a minor--the whole thing is coming undone.
It might even cost Hillary the election, something that is making people even fear for Huma's safety.
The internet has gone wild amid concerns over how top Clinton aide Huma Abedin is doing after the FBI reported that the new evidence in its case against Hillary Clinton came from a computer shared by Abedin and her husband, accused pedophile Anthony Weiner.
Abedin insists she has no idea how messages from Hillary Clinton’s private email server wound up on her personal computer.
Nonetheless, Huma – Clinton’s right hand woman of more than 20 years – wasn’t the Democratic candidate’s press plane Sunday. In fact, she wasn’t on Clinton’s campaign trail at all. (via Milo).
Kids on social media are speculating as to Huma's whereabouts, as rumors report Weiner is under lock and key. But I have a hunch Huma is already on her way to Europe or the Middle East, back in the arms of her wealthy family. When the Clinton campaign crashes and burns, she will be far from the wreckage.
So what's the moral of the story? Clearly the Ahab-Jezebel things works, for some people. But perhaps the rest of us would prefer to not enter such warped and disturbing relationships, just for some power.
As the old adage goes: marry well.
